Partners in Peace
Founders, April Tucker of Eka Loka Yoga and Zachariah Fisher of the Peace Guardians formed a relationship as partners in peace in 2016 while working with event planners of Imagine Fest, an annual yoga and music festival in Malibu, CA that supports Unlikely Heroes. Peace Guardians is a holistic peace education movement empowering youth to co-create world peace by merging modern and ancient mindfulness practices. SUP Yoga Southern Maryland, Chesapeake Bay
Program Director, April Tucker, created the first SUP (stand-up paddle board) yoga classes in Southern Maryland on the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay in 2012. She developed a relationship with a local adventure center who rented the SUPs and gathered four of her friends and fellow yoga instructors to learn about teaching SUP yoga. April was featured in the Summer 2012 Southern Maryland, this is Living Magazine and was interviewed by the Washington Post fitness section in June 2012. However, April's offerings were short-lived as an unexpected turn of events brought her back to the Southern California region. It is April's desire to return to teaching SUP yoga and offering a teacher training certification in the discipline.
AcroYoga, Partner Yoga, Yogaslackers, & Thai Yoga Bodywork
A peak at some of our firsts - we all start somewhere!
April was the first instructor to bring AcroYoga to the Southern Maryland region after several months of traveling weekly in hectic D.C. traffic with fellow instructor, Casey Bowen, to take classes with the beautiful and talented, Vanessa King, and partner, Josh Young. April later went on to take all three 5-day immersions with Jenny Sauer-Klein, co-founder of AcroYoga. This video link demonstrates our dedication and passion for what we do!

April and Rob have enjoyed teaching together for many years, especially heartfelt partner yoga, and sharing that joy with others. Their first partner class together sold out with 38 participants! Afterwards, we all enjoyed light snacks and wine...vino and vinyasa as we like to call it ;)

April is one of few west coast Thai Yoga Bodywork Therapists trained by Michael Sitzer, former lead instructor at Kripalu School of Massage. April also trained with Jennifer Yarro, owner of Frog Lotus Yoga and co-owner of The New England School of Thai Yoga. Bodywork allows for both the giver and the receiver to relax in synchronized movement. It's amazing when you can create and hold space for another using this healing touch modality.

Yoga of Food
Chef April began her career in cooking at a young age, serving creations to her family from her Holly Hobbie oven. Over the years, she has been a farmer's market vendor and ran her own private catering and event planning business in Southern Maryland for over ten years while attending college and raising a family. April began teaching cooking classes at various venues in 2006, with her most recent venture teaching at the Ojai Culinary School for the past 3 years. She has catered large black tie events, was requested as a special guest chef for members of The Coast News Group through the Ojai Visitors Bureau, and has been mentioned in the VC Star and Edible Ojai & Ventura County magazine. April's interest in chef services has shifted to learning more about Ayurvedic principles for the yogi diet. Her husband, Rob, is a gardening enthusiast, turning their front yard into an organic food garden and looking forward to raising chickens this year.
